"The Chemistry of Cannabis"
Abstract:
Starting July 1st of 2015, patients in Minnesota with qualifying medical conditions were given the opportunity to expand their treatment options to legally include medical cannabis. Over the past two years, the program – which is governed by the Minnesota Department of Health - has grown in both patient count and in number of qualifying conditions. Investigations into the chemical composition of Cannabis sativa have resulted in the identification of hundreds of compounds, including numerous cannabis-specific cannabinoids and terpenes. While the medicinal effects of many of these compounds are not completely known, several key cannabinoids have been shown to reduce inflammation, increase appetite, provide pain relief, and reduce seizure activity. Through this presentation, you will get an inside look into the life a cannabis chemist and gain a better understanding of this new and controversial industry.
